The presenters in this panel examine the relationship between media (broadly construed) and the current process of neoliberal privatization of education in the United States. Specifically, the panelists employ qualitative methods to understand several aspects of this complicated relationship. Through this endeavor, presenters ask how we can publicly read and critique media and deploy it in order to assert the right to public education. This entails understanding media and education as crucial components of a vibrant democracy
