Session Type: Symposium
This symposium fleshes out the intersection of gender, education, and globalized spaces by foregrounding concrete examples of women’s life experiences at this intersection. We explore boundaries, divides, and counter-narratives of women in accessing education, power, rights, and resources. Papers in this session focus on the experiences of women in developing human rights discourse, accessing technology for education, and playing larger practical and conceptual roles in academic research and leadership. We create a broader picture of the ways that geography, gender, and culture shape the lives of women and the ways that we do and think about education. We highlight research on globalized education and gender by centering voices of women from multiple and contrasting geographical locations.
