64.012 - Social Networks Models in Education Research

Sun, April 19, 1:00 to 5:00pm, Fairmont, Floor: Second Level, Ambassador

Session Type: Professional Development Course

Abstract

Social network analysis is becoming increasingly more common in education research. We will provide a mini-course that will introduce participants to social network analysis and social network statistical models using the open source software R. The course will be divided between lecture and group/individual hands on practice with data analysis. The course is open to anyone with an interest in social network modeling although experience with R or some other command line software is useful. Any prerequisite knowledge about regression or any other statistical models also useful. We ask that participants bring a laptop with wifi or internet capabilities.
