31.040 - Learning Strategies for Diverse Learners in the Health Sciences

Abstract

This roundtable brings together researcher-practitioners from coast-to-coast representing pre-health sciences, dentistry, medicine, nursing, and veterinary medicine. The presentations focus on proven strategies that are targeted for learners in the health sciences. Together these presentations are anchored in approaches for active learning to successfully tackle the complex learning demands of the health sciences through evidence-based practices. The panel offers innovative, research-based strategies for motivating students, engaging in application and synthesis of complex content, active modes of learning through technology, learning interactively with lecture notes, and developing clinical skills. The presenters will discuss strategies supported by relevant research and describe best practices that have proven to be effective in each of the institutions represented.
