Session Type: Symposium
Presentations and publications of self study research have thus far been limited to the English language, meaning that speakers of other languages have had to translate and adapt their terminology in order to make it understandable for both colleagues and their institutions. This symposium documents the process of translation and transformation of self study research methodology in four different contexts where self-study scholars are attempting collaborative work collaboratively in languages other than English. The four papers describe the necessarily creative process undertaken in order to make self study comprehensible, scholarly and legitimate within their individual linguistic and research contexts. Findings show that self-study is inherently well-suited to the research of teacher education practices in a wide range of international contexts.
