Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this symposium is to share key findings from the IEA Teacher Education and Development Study in Mathematics (TEDS-M), an international comparative study of primary and secondary mathematics teacher education, focused on how different countries have prepared their teachers to teach mathematics. The key research questions focused on the relationships between teacher education policies, institutional practices, and future teachers' mathematics and pedagogy knowledge at the end of their pre-service education. The five papers presented in this symposium will include both broad and detailed looks at the TEDS-M data. All presenters will discuss implications for teacher education policy, connecting findings to mathematical literacy as a key issue of social justice.
