This panel explores how equality is approached in educational paradigms that serve the needs of girls from marginalized contexts. Presenter 1 explores how culture and gender are simultaneously constructed and mobilized in education projects for indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon. Presenter 2 explores the meaning of gender equitable quality education in a marginalized context with a focus on Zambia. Presenter 3 analyses how the factors, class and race, influence the educational tracking system at the high school level in the U.S. Presenter 4 explores the Feminista principles that influence how Chicana women think about teaching, learning, and ways of knowing and how these principles are implemented pedagogically. This panel problematizes the processes of defining and achieving equality in education.
