Session Type: Symposium
This symposium proposes to share recent research that looks at how the use of virtual and physical activities are combined for science learning, across a variety of domains. We consider whether and how students' experiences in a virtual lab or environment help them understand what is going on in a real-world setting. We will present examples from biology, chemistry, astronomy, and ecosystems science, and discuss commonalities in how the connections between virtual and real experiments can be designed to support student learning.
