Session Type: Roundtable Session
School district capacity is critical to the successful implementation of technology initiatives aimed at providing students access to technology and to 21st century learning experiences. The needs, capacities, and priorities of students, teachers, and administrators should guide resource allocation and training, so that technology integration and its classroom application are effective and sufficient. In this session, researchers will share key findings from a countywide technology needs assessment and align them to four case studies of school districts implementing mobile technology initiatives. Case study findings provide key insights into critical contextual factors, including professional development, leadership and vision, IT support, and infrastructure/network capacity. Implications for researchers and practitioners working with districts and school leaders around technology integration will be shared.
