Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together scholars working with diverse organizations – academic, teacher union, intergovernmental, and non-profit – to provide a multiple-perspectives approach to findings from analyses of the OECD’s Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2013 dataset, which surveyed teachers from 34 international jurisdictions. The presentations in this session will focus on findings which relate teachers’ perceptions of school climate, teacher leadership, collaborative practices, and professional learning to their reporting of self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and whether the teaching profession is valued in society. Each of the panelists will share and discuss their perspectives on these findings, including the implications for teaching and learning and for educational policy in the United States and internationally.
