Session Type: Symposium
This symposium offers the opportunity to explore and advance the work of systems transformation, focused on simultaneous efforts in Mississippi, Maryland, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Oregon to build the capacity of state, local, school, and classroom units to find complimentary policy and practice that support inclusive classrooms, schools, and statewide implementation. Any transformative work shifts power structures, disturbs assumptions about the function and purpose of education, and surfaces deeply veined beliefs about ability, gender, race, and culture. This symposium examines the efficacy of the SWIFT Center framework for creating sustainable school transformation and aligning district policy and resources to support and scale up practices that lead to positive student outcomes.
