Session Type: Symposium
This session compares a sample of 90 career narratives using three identity development models. The first paper describes the methods and results associated with using Marica’s Identity model to classify respondents into one of three identity patterns. The second study describes the methods and results associated with using Howard’s Conceptions of Career Choice and Attainment to classify respondents into one of four levels of career reasoning. The third paper describes the methods and results associated with McAdams Life story Identity theory to classify respondents into one of three identity levels. The fourth paper compares and contrasts these studies to illuminate key areas of convergence and differentiation by assessing how each predict a range of college and career readiness skills.
