Session Type: Roundtable Session
The symposium addresses the relationship between teacher leadership and social transformation and the relevance of this link in order to promote school improvement and educational opportunity for all children, regardless of their cultural or socioeconomic status. This will be done from an international perspective, paying special attention to the inclusion of teachers as agents of change. Drawing from this common ground, the papers will discuss four different and complementary topics: a) the power of non-positional teacher leadership: evidence from teachers themselves, b) teachers’ seminars based on the communicative methodology, c) parents and community involvement in education through teacher leadership, and d) the impact of classroom volunteers beyond the school walls.
