Session Type: Symposium
This symposium features a range of scholarship focusing on three cross-cutting themes: sexuality, social justice, and schooling. The authors investigate an array of issues—from recognition of LGBTQ people in schools and in the wider community, to the politics and ethics of sexual consent, to the justifiability of “steering” students to predetermined conclusions about hot-button topics—that complement and extend the themes; and they bring different disciplinary perspectives, methodologies, and insights to bear in their analyses. The overarching goal of the symposium is to deepen our collective understanding and appreciation for the complexity of pressing matters pertaining to sexuality, social justice, and schooling.
