11.020 - Using Critical Race Theory in Secondary and Higher Education Research

Abstract

This extended course will provide graduate students, emerging- and continuing scholars with information and skills to use critical race theory (CRT) in secondary and higher education research. This course is designed to be intentionally interactive and will consist of activities, group dialogue, video, and independent exercises to facilitate one's understanding of the course content. Participants will be trained on the origins of CRT, its tenets, key assumptions, how to use it for framing educational research, and CRT's explanatory power. Strong examples of published works will be highlighted.
