49.041 - Learning to Improve: How America's Schools Can Get Better at Getting Better

Abstract

The concept of Networked Improvement Communities (NIC) unites the analytic discipline of Improvement Science with the power of Networked Communities to innovate and learn together. Improvement science deploys rapid short-cycle tests of change to guide the development and continued revision of new tools, processes, work roles and relationships. When applied within a network, it is possible to accelerate improvements even further. This session focuses on a recently published book that argues for a reformation of the R&D enterprise in education. A past Division H Vice President and authors of a book on Networked Improvement Communities will present this session. This format will include small and whole group interactions around the core ideas of the volume.
