Session Type: Invited Roundtable
Initiated in Chicago at the 1997 Annual Meeting, the 2015 session of Continued Conversation with Senior Scholars on Advancing Research and Professional Development Related to Black Education will be number 19 in this very popular and widely heralded series. We have been fortunate to have been granted Presidential Session status since 1999 in Montreal—thus, the Philadelphia session will earmark 16 years as a Presidential Session. Further and most importantly, we have been fortunate to have some of the most notable education scholars in the country participate as topical discussion leaders. In 1997, we kicked off with 10 tables and now we have 18 tables involved in the session. Over the years, we have averaged approximately 12 participants per table with a range of 5 to 40 participants at the tables. For example, at the 2006 conference in San Francisco, we had approximately 200 participant make visits at the 13 tables, and that is not counting the discussions leaders. This year in Philadelphia, the tally was 164 in spite of several competing sessions that were of major interests to both participants and topic leaders that were scheduled at the same time.
