The last decade vocational education (VET) institutions have been experimenting with learning environments that put more emphasis on the practical or authentic component; hybrid learning environments are gaining ground in VET. Although, the efforts that are put in place to design hybrid learning environments are grounded on solid theories, social-constructivism for example, it is still hardly known what the best way is, let alone that we can draw conclusions about the added value of hybrid learning environments or the changing role of teachers. These questions are central in this symposium about hybrid learning environments in the Netherlands. With shining an Australian light on these findings in the discussion, we try to enrich the results and conclusions so far.
