In this narrative self-study, a teacher educator examines his transition to administrative responsibilities. Through critical reflection and analysis of journals and other artifacts, he considers how his conception of teacher education as relational is lived out in a leadership position. Relational teacher education is used as a framework for analyzing experiences, as are the four themes (power, community, social justice and reform) identified by Manke as important in administrator self-studies. An important dimension of the study is consideration of how self-study can contribute to social justice for democratic communities, with a focus on Indigenous peoples.
