This study examined the impact of using graded competitions within Sport Education. The competitive games of two classes (one graded, one mixed) of 106 fourth-grade students were recorded. Each time a player made contact with the ball, or was the target of a pass or shot on goal, that activity was recorded. Calculations included (1) the percent success and (2) the rate per minute of all in-game opportunities. Findings showed no difference between the success rates of higher and lower skilled players in graded competitions, but higher skilled players had greater game involvement. In mix skill teams, significantly lower success rates as well as opportunities to respond were recorded by lower skill players.
