Mobile Documentation With Smartphone and Cloud in an Emergent Curriculum

Abstract

The goal of this study was to explore kindergarten teachers’ experience with mobile documentation designed to support their tracking of children’s learning activities in an emergent curriculum. We created a structure for mobile documentation by using the smartphone and cloud system. Using a case study approach, we examined 10 kindergarten teachers’ lived experiences with mobile documentation. Less experienced teachers gained more benefits than experienced teachers from the newly created mobile documentation structure because they were able to understand the emergent curriculum by viewing photos from and observing activities in other classrooms. The supervisor benefited from understanding the activities and projects in each classroom and could provide specific mentoring to less experienced teachers.
