This paper examines the asymmetrical relationship between Freirian pedagogy and a critical pedagogy originated in Japan, called Seikatsu Tsuzurikata. Further, in order to transform this asymmetrical relationship into a dialectic one, the author creates a new hybrid framework, Critical Seikatsu Tsuzurikata ( CST) based on Homi Bahbah’s notion of Third space. The new framework consists of a mixture of languages from Seikatsu Tsuzurikata pedagogy and Freirian pedagogy. The framework also embrace principles that are rooted in both pedagogies. The use of this new hybrid framework will allow critical educators across the world to engage in the international discourse of critical pedagogy to achieve the common goal of democracy and equity through education.
