This qualitative study considers aspects of school climate that support or inhibits student achievement. Given the increased responsibility and accountability schools face during these challenging times; school climate and the role of the school principal formed the basis of this study. It is important to determine what successful schools are doing in order to increase student achievement. This will help to inform practices and serve as models of what effective schools do to promote student success. The National School Climate Council (2009) framework and Fullan’s (2014) three keys to maximizing the principal’s impact will provide the theoretical framework for this study.
