This phenomenological study draws on data from 59 racially and economically diverse students attending three public high schools that predominantly serve students of color and students from lower income backgrounds to examine students' experiences with college readiness efforts and the college going culture on their campuses. The schools students attended were successful in graduating a large portion of their student body "college ready.” However, findings revealed what we coin as college readiness fatigue among some students. This fatigue is an unintended consequence of such efforts that must be considered in future research and by practitioners and policymakers.
