Research literature on male pre-service teachers of color is scarce. The purpose of this study is to address this gap in knowledge. This study examines the everyday experiences of three male pre-service teachers of color at a predominantly White institution (PWI).
Disentangling the way oppressions intersect and operate in teacher education programs (TEPs) requires a nuanced theoretical framework. This study uses a critical race theory (CRT) approach to investigate the intersection of race and gender in the experiences of the participants in a TEP. The findings of this study show that racism intersects with, and operates covertly through, gender in the lives of the men.
