In this study we: 1) examine the dimensionality and reliability of the perceived enthusiasm measure for use in the context of beginning teachers (BTs), 2) investigate general profiles of BTs’ perceived enthusiasm, and 3) examine the relationship between BTs’ enthusiasm, BTs’ classroom management, and their student engagement. Sample consisted of 175 beginning teachers (55% female). Teacher enthusiasm questionnaire was used to measure perceived enthusiasm. Classroom management of the participating teachers and their student engagement were observed by expert observers. Results show that the enthusiasm measure can be used appropriately in the context of BTs. Teaching enthusiasm was found to be significantly higher than subject enthusiasm. Subject enthusiasm, but not teaching enthusiasm, was significantly related to classroom management and student engagement.
