Community cultural wealth, or the collection of assets of students of color, provides one theoretical way to understand college readiness. This paper reports on a survey of undergraduates enrolled in open access institutions to understand how forms of nondominant cultural capital can be considered along dominant college readiness indicators in a model of college achievement. The significant results of this quantitative analysis suggest that navigational capital, or the ability to maneuver through white-centered institutions, is a salient college readiness skill. This paper discusses the implications of this finding in light of extant college readiness research.
