Statutory Regulation of Student Conduct Administration: An Econometric Analysis

Abstract

Using federal data sources author observed North Carolina institutions reported changes in disciplinary referrals following increased statutory regulation of student discipline. Specifically, this study examines the disciplinary referrals for incidents that constitute weapon, drug, and liquor law violations both before and after increased statutory regulation. By comparing mean referrals through multiple regression differences-in-differences analysis, this study determined drug cases showed a drop while liquor cases showed an increase.
