Social communication and interaction have been identified as a distinguishing impairment for individuals with ASD. As a pivotal skill, the successful development of social communication and interaction is imperative. Point-of-view video modeling has the potential to address these deficits. However, the effectiveness of this intervention for teaching social communicative skills has not been established. Therefore, the study will utilize single-subject methodology to examine the use of point-of-view video modeling in teaching five preschool participants with ASD social initiations (e.g., greetings). The social initiations will involve participants’ abilities to shift and maintain their attention toward a peer, and engage in a greeting. Generalization and maintenance will be tested, and it is expected that point-of-view video modeling will successfully teach social initiations.
