Predictors of Campus Connectedness in Graduate Students

Abstract

For undergraduates, campus connectedness predicts completion. This preliminary study used a sample of 345 graduate students from 64 Universities and explored gender, ethnicity, the number of years enrolled in a current university, Self-Evaluative Perfectionism, satisfaction with life and other variables as predictors of campus connectedness at the graduate level. Results indicate that life satisfaction, Self-Evaluative Perfectionism, and the number of years enrolled at a current university were all predictors of campus connectedness. Significant interaction effects indicate that satisfaction with life and ethnicity moderate campus connectedness in graduate students. Future research will examine whether campus connectedness predicts graduate program completion. Implications for supportive interventions within graduate programs are discussed.
