How Saudi Mothers Deal With the Transition of Their Children to the U.S. School System

Abstract

The Saudi Government and public institutions along with many Saudi companies offer educational and job opportunities in the United States to Saudi citizens. Many of these Saudis are married with children. The author looks at the issues associated with the transition of the Saudi children from the Saudi school system to the US school system and how their parents dealing with those issues. The study attempts to answer the question “What kind of insight and advice would be most beneficial for Saudi parents with children coming to USA? The interviews with the participating mothers showed three central themes: structural changes, educational differences, and emotional responses.
