Mon, April 11, 4:30 to 6:00pm, Marriott Marquis, Floor: Level Two, Marquis Salon 9

Abstract

Using the data from the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS). I studied the teacher’s behavior of the three Latin American countries contained in the data set—Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. I wanted to analyze the effect of the following variables on whether fulltime teachers would choose to be teachers if they had the chance to change their career: 1) teachers’ age, 2) teachers’ gender, and 3) teachers’ country. My purpose here is to expose the estimated odds differences among three Latin American countries participating in the study. The multiple logistic regression analysis shows that there are significant differences between. Mexico shows much higher odds of having their full-time teachers choose to continue teaching.
