An Examination of Capital Expenditures Between Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Predominantly White Institutions

Mon, April 11, 4:30 to 6:00pm, Marriott Marquis, Floor: Level Four, Independence Salon F

Abstract

This research is a continuation of a previous study by Burnette and Brown (2014), on capital spending at institutions of higher learning to determine if significant differences exist between the state of Maryland’s tax-based capital subsidy distributions to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly White Institution (PWI) counterparts.
The results revealed that there were fluctuations in allocations of the capital appropriations for the institutions between the period 2001 and 2011.
