Abstract

Documentary research methods continue to evolve at an astonishing rate as the fields of historical and qualitative research continue to re-define themselves and their methodologies. This session brings together four leading historians who, through their scholarship, have confronted and addressed issues in documentary research. The intent of the session is to provide a forum to examine basic documentary themes— authenticity, credibility, representativeness, and meaning—and to discuss contemporary issues and concerns.
