The purpose of this study was to gain a better understanding of the experiences of mathematics anxieties of one woman elementary preservice teacher (PST) while learning mathematics as a K-12 student and while learning to teach mathematics. Examining the narratives written by the PST revealed that mathematics anxiety may be an issue or concern that remains consistent and/or recurs for decades. The stories told by the participant indicated her experiences in learning mathematics led her to develop a unique coping strategy for mathematics anxiety that was utilized repeatedly across her experiences as a student learning mathematics and while learning to teach mathematics. An implication of this work is how mathematics teacher educators may address mathematics anxiety in women elementary PSTs.
