Worldwide, many countries have recently reformed their curriculum, or are busy doing so. Analysis of those curriculum reforms shows a trend towards capacity building for local curriculum development. As the Netherlands recently initiated a major curriculum reform, also international inspiration was sought. This paper presents the findings of a comparative analysis carried out regarding the curricular products and reform processes and the principles behind these, of a selected number of countries (Australia, Finland, Flanders, New Zealand, Norway and Scotland). The findings of this study may also be of importance to other nations that are to undertake a national curriculum reform.
