In China, John Dewey launched on a refinement of his ideas and thoughts on education, only three years previously presented in Democracy and Education (1916). This paper details some of the impact China made on Dewey as seen through experiences and observations detailed in his letters to his daughters, evidence from his lectures, and the development of his social and political thoughts on China as discussed in his series of essays. As China revealed herself, Dewey revealed himself through his letters, lectures, and articles on China. This journey was to be one of lasting and influential impressions and impact on John Dewey.
