Previous research with creativity assessments have used latent class models and identified multiple classes (three-class solution) associated with different domains. This study explored the latent class structure of Runco Ideational Behavior Scale, which was designed to quantify ideational capacity. We utilized a state-of the-art and robust technique, called mixed Rasch model using a sample of 765 middle school students. Consistent with previous studies, three clear latent classes were found in this study. It appeared that Class 1 represents the regular ideators class, Class 2 is the idea-producers class, and Class 3 is the idea-averters class. Three-class solution represents three different skills rather than different domains in this study.
