The overall objective of the research is to examine education professors’ pedagogies in regards to how they teach the intersections of citizenship and globalization, as they relate to environmental issues within different regions of the world. Within an increasingly interconnected, globalized world, the constructs and scope of citizenship are increasingly questioned, deconstructed, and reconstructed. Definitions and constructs of citizenship and global citizenship, as well as the education of both, are defined and structured differently depending on who is asked. Although pluralistic and fluid in definition, in this research, educating for “global citizen(ship)” equates to being able to critically understand local and global issues thought differing worldwide perspectives with respect for differences, as well as realizing similarities.
