Sat, April 9, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section C

Abstract

This study examines the influencing mechanism of parent-teacher communication on high school students’ development by investigating 4606 high school teachers. Results are as follows: (1) In general, telephone, SMS and personal conversation were the top three frequently used ways of parent-teacher contact; The most frequent reason of parent-initiated contact was children’s academic decline, and that of teacher-initiated contact was pointing out the learning problems of students; (2)The relationship between parent-teacher contact frequency and students’ development is completely mediated by parent-teacher relation and teacher-student relation through two ways: parent- teacher contact frequency parent-teacher relationstudent’s development, and parent-teacher contact frequencyparent-teacher relationteacher-student relationstudent’s development.
