Peer Observation With Collective Reflection for Enhancing Reflective Teaching Practice in a Professional Learning Network

Tue, April 12, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Three, Ballroom A

Abstract

The CCC-M project aims at designing and developing a professional learning network (PLN) of teachers. Within the PLN, a progressive approach has been developed to enhance teachers’ reflective competence. As an initial activity, the pairs of teachers visited each other’s class. The class visit enables the teachers to open their own teaching practice to the others, to focus on actual teaching situation and to foster reflective practice. Hence, the purposes of this study are (a) to exemplify the peer class observation within the PLN, (b) to examine two cases of peer observation to understand how these teachers developed their teaching practice through collective reflection, and (c) to discuss the benefits and practical implications for peer observation and the consequent reflection.
