This case study uses sociocultural, critical literacy and empathic identities to inform the design and analyze data from this qualitative research study. The current study investigated preservice and in-service teachers’ experiences and understandings as they participate in a multicultural children and young adult literature course that includes a visit to a Holocaust museum. Findings have implications for teacher education as well as K-12 classroom practices.
