Revisiting the Poetic Imagination: Learning From Eisner and Zen

Sat, April 9, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section A

Abstract

Qualitative researchers are opening the repertoire of techniques used in data representation. Poetry is one way to capture lived experience. The use of found data poems, that is poetry found in the texts of the reflective journal, the interview transcripts and site documents, offers another way of presenting data. In addition Identity poetry, may also add to our repertoire and offer yet another data set for analysis and interpretation. The goal of this session is to better understand ways to conceptualize, explore and expand our notions of our poetic imagination. We begin with prompts from Eisner and various Zen writers on poetry to represent lived experience and open up ways of seeing the world.
