The potential benefits of teacher leadership are widely acknowledged; however, the concept of teacher leadership is in need of analytic clarification and empirical testing. The purpose of this study was to empirical test the underlying factor structure a teacher leadership survey based on typology that distinguishes three distinct types of teach leaders. A total of 178 responses from teacher leaders were collected on The Readiness for Teacher Leadership Survey (Katzenmeyer & Moller, 2001). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test a four-factor model (general teacher leadership, instructional innovator and mentor, professional learning leader, and site and district liaison). Results showed that the four-factor model was a good fit to the data.
