Teaching at a New Level: The Relationship Between the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice and the Danielson Framework for Teaching

Fri, April 8, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section A

Abstract

The Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and more specifically, the “Standards for Mathematical Practice” identify skills that teachers should foster in students. However, there has been little effort to connect these standards to evaluations of teachers. In this study, the authors examine the relationship between the usage of the Common Core Mathematical Practices and teacher evaluation ratings on the Danielson Framework for Teaching through the analysis of 142 videotaped mathematics lessons from teachers in grades 3-5.
