This paper is a reflective analysis of the authors’ creation of a documentary about distinguished American educational philosopher Maxine Greene. Using the last known interview footage of Greene, the authors have woven together a narrative that features her highly introspective thinking on education, Arts, politics and more. Tensions inherent in auto/biographical work, predominantly the ethical dilemma of representation and aesthetic choices made during the editing process, are explored. The authors discuss how their autobiographies as educational researchers have unavoidably been woven into the narrative. Using what Nichols (2010) refers to as ‘poetic mode’, the authors discuss how the documentary has ultimately become their own creative interpretation, or better yet, a poetic re-presentation of the thoughts and ideas of Maxine Greene.
