This study examines the ways in which Greene’s (1995) aesthetic theories are interpreted by college students attending a study abroad program in Korea. This research was conducted at an International Summer School in a Korean university in 2014. Students have experienced Korean artwork and used their aesthetic experiences to release their imagination regarding a different global society. This study highlights the ways in which participants recognize the value of multiple perspectives in articulating important knowledge as well as the sociopolitical, colonial analysis of such decisions. This paper advances cross-cultural, transnational curriculum theorizing by revisiting Greene’s aesthetic theory.
