This presentation will share the results of a NSF project entitled, “ Cultivating Hispanics and African Americans’ Reading, Math, Science (CHARMS) in Elementary Schools for Girls Conference: Project CHARMS for Elementary School Girls”, to address issues impacting African American and Latina (AAL) girls in STEM. Analyses include the results of two large achievement data sets -- NAEP and TAKS (2003-2011) and STAAR (2012-2013)-- on sub-test objectives for science, math and reading and an evaluation of a one-day conference with 58 participants (teachers, administrators and parents) from urban, suburban and rural school districts about their role in increasing AAL girls in STEM.
