Black males are thought to be more at risk for over-identifying with their athletic role and thus more likely to be less ready for college and career than their White counterparts. Dr. Harris has created a mobile app that facilitates information designed to promote the college and career readiness of collegiate student athletes, with emphasis on Black males. Mobile learning maximizes instructional time, which is critical given the time demands already placed on student-athletes (Walker, 2011). The purpose of this project is to measure the impact of a mobile learning intervention on the college and career readiness of collegiate student athletes, with emphasis on Black males. The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSSI), along with semi-structured interviews, will be utilized.
