People have recently argued that we are in a post-LGBTQ society; however, recent and proposed legislation in many states intend to limit the rights of queer-identified students. Drawing from data from the National Study of LGBTQ College Student Success, we longitudinally interviewed 14 students to explore responses and actions to challenge the notion of a post-LGBTQ society. We specifically explored student responses to a variety of changing state contexts (e.g., Indiana Religious Reformation Act) and tried to understand what contextual factors promoted or detracted from engaging in student activist related behaviors.
